For Immediate Release

WASHINGTON, D.C.- November 2nd, 2009

LUKE RUSSERT, ED HENRY AND OTHERS PARTICIPATE IN GRADUATE SCHOOL OF POLITICAL MANAGEMENT’S AWARDS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE IN POLITICS. FOUR $10,000 SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED.

On October 28th, The Graduate School of Political Management hosted The First Annual Political Achievement Awards. Presenting the awards were Luke Russert of NBC, Ed Henry of CNN, Heather Smith of Rock The Vote, Chris Malagisi of The Young Conservative Coalition, Paul Monteiro of The White House, and John McConnell, a former Bush speechwriter. James Kotecki, formerly of Politico and one of the best comedians in DC, was the evening’s Master of Ceremonies.

The dinner and ceremony honored Jordan Spencer and Patrick Boland as the National Undergraduate Student Government Campaigners of The Year, Parker Novak as the National Student Campaigner of The Year, and Kara Van Stralen as The National Student Advocate of The Year.

In 2008, we saw an explosion of youth participation in politics and community service. In towns and cities across the country, young people of all ages and backgrounds spent countless hours in service for the greater good. The Graduate School of Political Management is taking an active role in recognizing and rewarding this dedication. Chris Arterton, Dean of The Graduate School of Political Management commented that “these four outstanding young people are just the tip of the iceberg of a dedicated generation.”

Each year, the school will select undergraduate winners who are leading their generation in political service. Each will receive a $10,000 scholarship to attend The Graduate School of Political Management.
