Political Communication and Marketing


Latin American Leaders to Discuss Techniques for Achieving Public Support

Nov. 19 - 20, 2011

EVENT: GW's Graduate School of Political Management will host the 9th Seminar of Political Communication and Marketing, "Governing and Communicating: Techniques to Achieve Public Support." Immediately upon entering office, governments must win a virtual "election" every day in order to gain support from citizens. In today's world, governing effectively includes having the ability to communicate effectively. This event will host leading specialists who will share tools and techniques to help improve this ongoing communication process. A list of speakers is below.

 

WHEN: Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 19 - 20, 2011;

Nov. 19: Registration begins at 8 a.m.; Event ends at 4 p.m.

Nov. 20, 2011: Registration begins at 9 a.m.; Event ends at 2:30 p.m.

WHO: David Almacy is the former director of Internet and digital communications at the White House, specializing in government communication.

Lee Brenner is an expert in strategic communications, specializing in the use of social networks and new technologies to reach complex electorates.

John Feehery is the chairman of Quinn Gillespie Communications and director of legislative affairs. For more than 20 years, Mr. Feehery has advised Republican members of Congress.

Jim Manley is the adviser and spokesman of the Senate majority leader. He develops communication strategies for Democratic Senators in the areas of health, education and labor.

Daniel McGoarty is the former special assistant to the resident of the United States and led team of White House speech writers.

Robert Traynham is a consultant who worked on the Bush re-election campaign. He is currently handling communications for the Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum.
