Taught by Robert Thorman, former Legislative Information Specialist with the Corporation for National and Community Service and GSPM Alum (1996)

Join fellow GSPM alumni listen to Robert Thorman discuss how to lobby the federal appropriations process from the public, private, and non-profit sectors. Current GSPM students are also welcome to attend! Topics to be discussed include:

  • Why OMB is so powerful
  • How to get funding out of an appropriations bill
  • Should I start with the House or Senate Appropriations Committee?
  • What is the difference between the House and Senate Appropriations Committees?
  • Making friends with Appropriations staff
  • Finding a Congressional champion for your issue
  • What is the difference between an Appropriations bill and a Committee Report and why do I need to read them both?
  • Why earmarks still exist and how to better conceal them
  • Should I go directly to a Federal Agency to try and get funding through their Appropriations bill?

The George Washington University (GWU) tiene el agrado de presentarle el V Taller de Gerencia Política de Proyectos de Cambio “De la Agenda de Campaña al Cambio Exitoso”, en el cual analizaremos las herramientas estratégicas para avanzar proyectos de cambio desde el gobierno, una vez concluida la campaña electoral.
