GSPM Student Working for Obama

This summer in Washington, DC, there is nothing more coveted than an Executive Branch internship.

One GSPM student, Thomas Sanford, was talented enough to get one, specifically, in The Office of Space Commercialization. I asked Tommy to tell us a little bit about his internship:

"I just started my summer internship with the Office of Space Commercialization, whose activities fall underneath the jurisdiction of the Executive Branch.  The Office of Space Commercialization's mission is to foster conditions for economic growth and technological advancement of the U.S. commercial space industry.

This internship is a great opportunity for me to see how a government entity (OSC) gives a voice to commercial space vendors.  This summer I will mostly be dealing with issues relating to commercial remote sensing, and in fact am writing my GSPM independent study paper on a communication strategy for a commercial remote sensing company.

Like my previous internships, securing this one was about looking for the opportunity, doing the proper research, and taking the initiative to make it happen."
